Absolute Friends by John Le Carré is an amazing book, it has really renewed my interest in the espionage genre again. I think this is some of his best work in the last several books, which is saying a lot because I loved Constant Gardner.

The two main characters, Sasha and Mundy truly serve as a wonderful prism to view the way the world has changed in the last 40 years, a perspective that Le Carré uses with amazing force. Highly recommended to everyone, whether or not you enjoy espionage novels, as this (like the best of Le Carré and Graham Greene and Conrad before him) is a study of what it means to be human.

The Secret Life of Puppets by Victoria Nelson covers an amazing intersection of science and fantasy covering such things as horror movies, Philip K Dick, Girdano Bruno, Schulz, Lovecraft and many, many other things. At times a little difficult to read, and the cover spooked my co-worker. Other than that I enjoyed it quite a bit and I have several things I need to track down now.
