Dear readers, bear with me: I'd like to write something clever or poignant, but I don't have the time or energy. Last night my husband,
jeregenest, was hit by a car as he was walking home. He's in the hospital now with a compound fracture of the left leg (both lower bones) and a hairline fracture of the right ankle. This morning he'll be in surgery; they're putting a titanium rod in his leg to straighten and support it, tragically cutting short his basketball career. They're also putting screws in the other ankle because, as they said, he's going to need one leg to stand on, and he won't be able to put weight on the other one for several weeks.
We're expecting he'll be in the hospital until Monday or Tuesday. Your warm wishes and kind thoughts are appreciated. If you're local, I'm sure he wouldn't mind a visit once he gets home next week. He also said he loves flowers, but I think it was the morphine talking.
