One of the things about Everway (old game from WotC written by J Tweet) is you take some art and come up with the character. The box set had some interesting art, but since I’d never run it in that universe I have to be creative, though probably not original.

My game idea is a cross-time game of stomping the memetic fascists (why yes I might have read too much Ellis and Morrison lately, why do you ask?)

Character creation goes like this. Choose 5 words. Go to Google Images and type that word and “Fascist”, search, choose an image from the first page. Get all five images and make up a character background.

I like the idea, except that it's tricky to get images using "X word fascist." I mean, I tried, "vodka fascist" and got nothing. Then "saber fascist" and got nothing. "Glasses fascist" yielded a picture of Ashcroft, for some reason.

Still, I like the concept. I was going to use it in that game which I cannot mention because I have already exceeded my game-concept-mention quota.

I can mention it. It was my suggestion to do the Everway solution for it. Except with copies of Vogue (or was it GQ?)

The google images idea is great. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever do another Everway game.

It works. It works good. Sometimes I had to substitute "fascism" for "fascist" to get any results, but:

I want a charcter who "fears death by water," and I'm fond of the river as metaphor for time, so I begin with:

River fascist: http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:Ut1h88mrp4wJ:cosmicduckling.com/spirk/suits.jpg

The sight of Kirk and Spock in Western gear settled me on a Western character who would be flung into the future somehow. Kirk looks like a riverboat gambler, so I search for:

Gambling fascism:

Hee. So the guy's an athlete to boot, in good shape in his prime, but headed for a fall. The kind of fall that comes from living the high life, which leads us to …

Party fascist:

Whoa. Ain't that something? A riverboat gambler hung in the old west alongside a woman, makes perfect sense to me. Let's make him mulatto and blame the Reconstruction Meme. But he has to come back:

Resurrection fascist:

Meh, how can I work that in? Okay, so it's not a heavenly agency that brings him back, but some kind of organization. Probably the one that opposes the memetic fascists. I want to tie him back to the river, even if he died in the air, so:

Drowning fascism:

Holy crap. He's a robot. And WHAT a robot! A patchwork mess of antiform following antifunction. If we're doing Ellis and Morrison here, he's got half male and half female parts (the woman hung alongside him) along with an astounding amount of self-hate (the Klansman hood on a mulatto man) and conflicting desires.

Ladies and gentlemen, he is the River-bot Gambler.

Ladies and gentlemen, he is the River-bot Gambler.

There's nothing you can do about that joke. You know it's coming but there's just nothing to do except stand there and take it.

Have you tried...

...BananaSlug (http://www.bananaslug.com/index.php)? In that case you could specify "fascist" and then go for one of their categories...

I have my sets of X-Files Trading Cards, Sandman Collectible Cards, and Serial Killer Trading Cards all in readiness for one hell of an Everway game, if my players are ever fool enough to say "Hey, let's do something with Jung and UFOs."
