Continuing in my Kirby/Morrison/Ellis (with of course lots of Moore) kick I just did my DEF entry for Never-Ending Battle Lexicon, D'anthai.

I think head58's schedule is wrong given most people are doing entries several days before the deadline. He probably gave a little too much lead time. Hopefully it works out though. Its interesting participating in someone else's Lexicon.

I agree that the entries are coming in early more than not these first 2 rounds. But how is this schedule different from other lexicons? I've still got 2 entries per week, but Sunday/Wednesday instead of Tuesday/Friday.

I think its because you gave so much leadtime that the players clock is geared more for a Monday/Thursday thing. The fact you half the entries s early is a good indication of that.

My guess is by the tim we reach the 4th round that will have slowed down and people will start being late as they usually are.

Well, I do still have 3 or 4 people who said they'd participate who haven't done an ABC entry at all so maybe I'm not as far off as you'd think :)

They don't count. My experience has been that lots of people say theyr'e going to do a Lexicon but if they don't contribute by the deadline for the first round few of them ever do.

...so, quick question. When can we submit entries for the next (G, H, I) round? Wednesday? And then we wait until when to submit the J, K, L entries? I'm just mildly confused about when new rounds being. My apologies.

ead58 is doing rounds on Wednesday and Sunday. So GHI begins on Thursday (Aug 4) and ends Sunday (aug 7). JKL begins Monday (Aug 8) and ends on Wednesday (Aug 10).

I agree its confusing, a bunch of us are on the top of the round (most lexicons people are more clustered at the end) and that makes it difficult to wait to the end of the round. But for fairness its a good thing to wait till everyone who is going to do an entry has had every chance to do it.

Also: great entry. Ties in very nicely with some ideas I had for a later entry.

Nitpicking: looks like you repeat part of a paragraph in the middle, about discovering they are a virus. Also you mention Ballistic encountering them in 1973, but I'd established he shows up in the mid-80s in my entry (which, frankly, with all this time-muckery is not so much an error as needs a funky explanation :)

Oh, I'm not blaming you. I can perfectly understand friendslocking (my own journal is heavily friendslocked too, after all). I was just surprised that no one else mentioned it until now. Usually a Lexicon is surrounded by all kinds of "this is gonna be so awesome!" and "I love this enty SO MUCH" posts from several different people.

I'm reading through what's there now. Is there anything else you'd like me to catch up on other then the entries already up and the author chars? I'm going to try and get geared up on short notice and jump straight to the second entry (I found it's easier to get a running start then to always play catch-up), only then fill in the ABC one. If I really am joining I'll have at least the second round up by Wednsday.

I don't think anything other than what's in there needs to be known to get running. I'm not looking to steer this in any particular direction, but hope to start a pen-&-paper rpg game based off this when all is said and done. Also, there may be a second round of lexicon after this one to fill in some gaps and/or focus on one specific period/event depending on how things go.
