I’ve been pondering a new LARP campaign the last few days. The players would be a revolutionary cell that has decided to prepare itself for the inevitable birth of a despotic, perhaps national socialist, regime (or maybe a theocracy) or the inevitable collapse of society through the incompetence and mismanagement of the government. Or both. If you want we can imagine there are vampires involved.

Play would take place weekly at a gun club as the players hone their skills preparing for the upcoming chaos. One weekend of play a month would be more wilderness focused. The player characters would be drawn from a wide variety of professions (though inevitably high tech orientated) and would be striving to gain experience (call them points) in important skills to survive the various upcoming doomsday scenarios.

Play may require some willingness to travel.

Who’s in?

*snerk*

Yeah, I'll be in on that. I wanna be the alternate fuels expert. Or the demanding alternative building expert.

And I want a shotgun

I prefer my gaming to be escapist so I forget all this crap for a few hours.

Now, if you really want to get together and go to a shooting range or an army/navy store, I'm in.

And I wish I were joking. This depresses the hell out of me. :(

My humor is just not conencting with you.

This came about from [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom and I sitting around and discussing recent events ad our frustration and anegr wit t. And we talked about what we could do mroe of (and not liking our optons). I mentioned starting a militia as a contingency plan and [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossm said we'd never get our friends to do tha sort of thing (plus left-wing militias may be an oxymoron). I said all we needed to do is call it a LARP and we'd have no problem getting particpants.

Ah. This is why I sometimes hate email and blogs- tone of voice and body language are so important for communication... I getcha now. Yes... let us engage in LIVE ACTION ROLE PLAYING.

and left wing militias aren't an oxymoron. According to Ashcroft's DoJ, the ELF was the single greatest domestic terrorist threat facing the United States! Pay no attention to the anthrax that was sent through the mail!

It's too bad my mother sold 'the camp' in Templeton this summer. But she's still got the place in Princeton...

I was talking about getting my permit the other night, and M was very unhappy. She does not want me getting guns. I wish to god I felt like I didn't need to... I want to live in a civil society where I can trust the police and nat'l guard to keep the peace when the shit hits the fan. After this week, I'm more glad than ever for the 2nd amendment.

It took me a second reading, so don't feel too bad.

I failed to post earlier, but Woburn Sportsmen's Association (http://members.aol.com/wsa1933/home.htm) in Bedford meets the facility requirements. Since it's up there, I would recommend carpooling. They do have an annual membership fee.

They also have archery, black powder, and axe throwing. I don't know that they have regular black powder and axe practice times or if that's only occasional for fun.

And sure, if it would fit my annoying schedule, I'd be in. bluegargantua can keep the shotgun, I'll take a pistol if I have to provide my own stuff though I want to buy up to a rifle at some point. I'll be the undertrained medic who shakes their head sadly and says "I'm sorry, we'll have to amputate. Hand me that chainsaw."
