Spending some time cleaning up the wiki, making sure stuff is better cross-linked and filling in some of the gaps.

I think I handled [livejournal.com profile] jeffwik's wanting to gain information wrong. Given what Wheel of Fortune do I think it may be more appropriate to handle this as an extended contest based on Calix Occultus augmented by Divination. What do you think Jeff?

This brings me to a wider issue of how to handle some of Jeff's ability as a Wheel of Fortune. The standard method (for good reason) for handling special information gathering abilities in games is a pull model – the player has to ask for information. This makes sense as its easier on the gm ad prevents needless red-herrings or too many red flags that might derail plots. But in a game structured like tantanea it actually makes more sense to have a push method. Keshditenku has a very “always seeking pattern” approach which makes sense, it is what his Arcanum does. And given the nature of the game where all these patterns have potential meaning it does make sense for it all to be out there. Of course it still means more work for me so I’m not sure how I want to handle the matter yet.

Still working on straightening out the new player situation. Hope this gets resolved soon.

And I really owe a post-mortem on Revisionist History and why I think it didn’t work.

An extended contest to handle research/divination (Keshditenku definitely sees these as interchangable concepts) would be great. I'm not clear why the base ability would be Calix Occultus, though, instead of any of Kesh's more direct library-science-scrying skills.

Because your means of divination in this case is Kenneth Pietro (http://www.innocence.com/games/taci/Main/KennethPietro), and the best ability to represent him is Calix Occultus (http://www.innocence.com/games/taci/Main/CalixOccultus).

Ah, that makes sense. I actually thought we were talking about the nefarious Smoking Mirror, but yeah.

Sure, but later.

Right, now that got handled the way I wanted, a simple contest was all I though that dramatically worthy of. Plus I like the botch.

I was confused thinking you might want to do something as a follow-up as a result of your post here.

I'm looking forward to your comments on RH. And those from the others who played too. I'm feeling a bit down on online games, including my attempt, as all of mine have failed within the last couple of months. But if there are ways to change the rules that you think would have been helpful I'm all ears.

Thanks to you guys for playing it though. That was really gratifying to find that it interested some people.
