Our car needed bodywork, we were in two accidents back in the ice storm at the beginning of December. One of the estimates (the accident that was our fault) was for $105. We went to one of our insurance companies preferred providers to do the work, and authorized him to do the work on the appraisal. He than turns around and reappraises the work for $569. And does the work without consulting us. When I go to pick up the car I feel pressured into paying (I really needed the car), and of coruse
peaseblossom gets mad at me. After some research we've come to the conclusion that the auto body place is pretty much in the wrong.
I just contacted the autobody place and they say that we told them to do the work and so they did. This is wrong; we told them to do the work listed on the appraisal. So getting nowhere with them I contacted our insurance company and asked them tor esolve the matter. Since we went to this auto body shop because they recommended it it seemed likethe thing to do. So I'm waiting for the insurance company to get back to me with their answer.
If I don't like it, I think I'm going to follow up with a 93A Demand Letter under the Consumer Protection Act (heh
narcissisme is this in your field of expertise?) and go from there.
We just can't afford the money. Since it was our fault we have a $500 deductible, which means we're out $400 we weren't budgeting for. And with the enw baby on the way and Jess's planned maternity leave we just can't afford that. Things are going to be tight.
I'm very grumpy.
