Louisiana Flower Power
Jan. 31st, 2004 01:38 pmLouisiana has a 65 year old florist licensing law. Thats right, in 1939 Louisiana became the only state in the country to require florists to pass a licensing exam. A two-part florist licensing exam, which includes a one-hour written test and a four-hour practical test. The arrangements created in the latter part of the exam are judged by licensed florists, the very people with whom the applicant intends to compete.

Now the whole free-trade, unlawful restriction of commerce is getting in the news (I heard about this on NPR) but I'm a gamer and I immediately went "I must use this for my Nobilis game!" It just drips potential in a game where flowers are power and the Cleave of Botanists is a premier secret society (okay one of the two given in the GWB, that makes it premier)
Yet another thing that proves that reality is stranger than any fiction.
