Most of our friends don't have kids. Simple fact of life which leads to some weird situations. Like today, I'm checking out my del.icio.us inbox and see friends pointing out Boohbah. And I think to myself, what are they insane? This stuff is awful and it hurts your brains worse than JayJay. Why would anyone willingly subject themselves to this?

And then I remember that people without kids have a skewed idea of kids programming.

Take [livejournal.com profile] bluegargantua for example. His love of Thomas is probably only equaled by my son's. And thats a scary thought.

The only solution is mroe of our friedns need to have kids.

Since everyone else seems to be doing it, I figure I’ll play along.

I do intend to return to Nobilis. Maybe Ocean of Story, maybe something else. It’s just a matter of the stars being right. Should just bite the bullet and say I’m going to do it now. Maybe in October. What this ends up being will depend on what sort of player interest I get. Could be Ocean of Story II, could just be something radically different. Still quite a lot of territory to examine in Nobilis.

tantaene animis caelestibus irae: This is the working title for a game I think of as “Nephilim meets GURPS Cabal by way of Promethea.” I’ve done the occult conspiracy this way and that way and this way again. And I’ve done it pretty successfully. What I’d like to explore this time around is a broader landscape, one of the things both cabal and Promethea did well. What I envision is a game of entities drawn from myth, story and fancy who have lived again and again (see the Nephilim ideas) charting forth into the higher realms to explore and change the world. At various times this game has been set in my mind in Regency/Napoleonic, 1920s-1930s, 1950s and in a magic university. Not sure the system, I had at one point considered HeroQuest, but I haven’t been to happy with the play reports I’ve been hearing from [livejournal.com profile] robotnik’s Starchildren game so I might need to find another system.

A Thousand Singing Spheres: The Immortal Daoist Emperor has ruled for three thousand years. He has united the Earth and forged an empire amongst the heavens. These are the continuing stories of the Mission of the Singing Crane as it Explores the heavenly pathways. Wuxia and Star Trek mix in this world that owes much to Celestial Matters and Melissa Scott’s Silence Leigh books.

[livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom and I decided to give a whirl to Alias last night.. very unrealistic, almost dreamlike action-spy show that glories in its pulpdom. It has alchemists, so whats not to like?

Actually, what I’m finding the most interesting is how the show uses sound to build its world. Very effective, reminds me a lot of Run, Lola Run. Course the hair in the pilot didn’t hurt.

Actually the hair is another thing I'm finding greatly amusing.

Though like most televion it doesn't really leave you guessing.
