Day Tripping
Jul. 28th, 2004 08:50 amIn an effort to avoid the big bad police state
peaseblossom and I took the kdis yesterday up to Pioneer Valley. Where it rained. A lot. So we did indoor stuff primarily.
We spent a lot of tme at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art which was much larger than I expected. The boy got bored pretty quickly with the galleries (though we found them interesting) afte he found his favorite Carle stuff (very hungry caterpillar and the quiet cricket). However he loved their library (sniff...he's so my son) and the art studio was very nicely done with some great litte activities for kids, broken into nice age ranges. The boy probably could have stayed longer.
We were going to do some shopping in Northampton, including
modernmyths but we didn't like the rain so we headed up to the Yankee Candle Factory which has to be the kitschiest place in the Commonwealth. Needless to say the boy liked it. And I lost all sense of smell for at least an hour.
We spent the rest of the evening visiting old friends of
peaseblossom and then drove back very late. Peaseblossom had to keep prodding me awake and I'm sure my conversation was incredibly disjointed, but I think at one point she said I should convert to judaism.
Today we hazard Concord-Lexington. In the rain. Yeah New England.
