Technical woes

Remember a while back I asked about transfering files? Well we finlly got around to doing it and I can't make it work. Very frustrating. And the Microsoft help pages don't tell me how to figure it out.

EDIT: Great, now the mouse on the old computer doesn't work!

What seems to be the problem, exactly? Can you give us the stats on the two computers, and what you've tried, and what results you got?

I have two computers, both running Windows XP. The old computer (meaning our old one) has all these fiels and settings I want to port over to the new computer (the one we gt from my dad). head58 said sue a usb, but that doesn't seem to be working, at least not with the file transfer wizard which never gets a connection.

It doesn't help that we only hav one monitor.

I'm going back to being a luddite.

Do you have any kind of budget? You can get USB gadgets that appear to be a new removable drive on any windows 98 or later PC. You can probably get one that holds 500 megs for $30, and it's pretty much like a big-ass floppy drive to use.

That cable thing should work (but if it givs you an option, you're connecting with network cable not USB). Afternately, I can still send you a couple of gmail invites and you ca just ship everything via attachments.
