Okay who in the Boston area is up for a book club? Details open for arguement. Maybe every other week or once a month, read one book, primarily of the slipstream variety.

I need a social outlet thats not gaming and doesn't involve 3-year-olds.

The only problem...

...is that I don't see my reading pace keeping up with yours. I mean, I'm getting back into the reading thing a lot more lately but I get the sense that you and Jess blow through books.

The other, kinda minor, problem is that I can be kina picky about my reading. If the premise doesn't really get my attention, I'm likely to drop off the reading halfway through. Which makes for a short book discussion later on:

"So what'd you think?"
"I stopped halfway though."
"Ah. Did you get to the part about--"
"No, I stopped before that."
"Oh."

But I have been enjoying the recommendations flying around. I'm really getting into Gardens of the Moon for example.

Well thats always a risk you take with a reading circle, buit I also think the group 'pressure' to finish can be healthy. Least for me.

And if its spaced evenly enough in time I think you would be okay. But thats just me selfishly trying to scare up interest.

Excellent.

How often would work for you?

I'm thinking somewhere neutral, like a coffee shop, gives me an excuse to go out one evening every couple of weeks.

Christmas is too damned busy...

Every couple of weeks is excellent, and a coffee shop is excellent, yeah. I'm gonna be in Seattle third week of January, but if we kicked off sometime the week of Jan. 12th?

You had to do this as I was leaving town, didn't you?

*sigh*

I'd def. be into it to, except I have the same problem as Tom. I can get through about a book a month if I'm really lucky. A chapter or so at night before I go to bed is about all I can muster.

Let me just say this: It has taken me a month to get through 'Life With Jeeves.' A friggin' PG Wodehouse book! And that was with two transcontinental flights to plow through the lion's share of it... ;)

And my shelves are full of books I've bought and have yet to read, I don't want to go out and buy more... 'Course this would be a good excuse to go out and finally get a Chelsea library card.

And I would love to have some sort of social contact again...

Keep me posted.

You should geta library card no matter what. Library usage is important. It helps with the crucial budget decisions. The more people usng the library the better arguement the library can make for valuable town funds.
