The Pantellos game on Saturday went well. I didn’t do as good a job with the walk-in characters as I should have. [livejournal.com profile] bryant’s was okay, but [livejournal.com profile] jeffwik suffered for it, and I’m really feeling sheepish about that.

It took [livejournal.com profile] kingfloyd, [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom and Susan a bit to get into their characters but once they did the conversations were golden.

I still have problems with combat and hard action scenes. Peaseblossom also complained I was too cautious in my presentation. It’s a problem in a roleplaying game where a player’s senses are usually derived from the GM. If they GM is cautious the player ends up being cautious, and Jess resented that a bit.

Great ending. It really tied up loose ends for the game. After it imploded due to scheduling issues I always regretted not being able to wrap things up. This session did that, while elaving the game open for other things within the Pantellos universe, even with some of the same characters if desired. A very LeCarre ending.

The session was great, from my end of the living room. First of all, it was like a reunion with old friends - marred by the absences of course, but hey, that's how it is in the spy game. I really liked the way you handled the final showdown with Zhirnoff in Vanuatu - satisfying and sketchy without taking too much time away from the rest of the story. Interactions with each other and especially with the two new PCs were very fun. The chance to see how the Pantellos team looked to the other agencies was great, too - both frightening and ego-gratifying. And yes, it was a very LeCarre ending, and quite satisfying, while definitely leaving open the possibility of further stories. Although... it wasn't until afterwards I realized I wasn't sure: HAD Pantellos been compromised, or did they just start rolling us up AFTER we started acting so erratic? It wasn't Pantellos that instigated the ZSW attacks, after all... was it?

That was part of the ambiguity I wanted to leave folks with. I was hoping for a little Angelton-esque mood there.

*sigh*

I wish I'd been there.

Its all part of my plot to do cool stuff now that you fled to middle America.

Run Pantellos, pull back together a nObilis game, have another baby. See what you are missing out? You should have taken the basement option.
